Santa Clarans have enjoyed a great
solar deal for many years, saving them thousands of dollars when they put
rooftop solar on their homes. Unfortunately,
this generous rebate will come to an end on June 30, 2018. If you’re in the City of Santa Clara and
interested in solar, please consider acting in the near future.
Silicon Valley Power (SVP), the City’s municipal utility, has announced that all applications for the rebate from City residents must be delivered or postmarked by June 30. If approved, applicants will have one year from the submission date to install the system and pass the final inspection.
SVP’s current rebate is $1.00/Watt (AC), or about $.85/Watt (DC), and it helps to improve the economics of solar a lot. For example, if installing a 5 kW (DC) system, getting approval for the rebate before the June 30 deadline means you would get a rebate check for more than $4,000 at the current rebate level.
If you're interested in learning more about the SVP rebate and about what's involved in getting rooftop solar in general, please join us for a free, 1.25-hour "Going Solar" workshop. This workshop will help you understand the basics of solar PV, the rebates and economics of going solar, the technology options you have, how you tie into the grid, purchasing tips, etc. If you’re interested in attending one of these sessions, you can check schedules and register sunwork.org/events. The next such events are as follows:
* Sat, Feb 24 in Milpitas, at Sobrato Center for Nonprofits, from 12:15 - 1:30pm
* Thurs, Mar 8 in Santa
Clara, at Santa Clara University, from 7 - 8:15pm
If you have any questions about the SVP rebate, feel free to contact us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
